Some of my most magical captures are beside or on the water. I get mesmerised looking into the blue of a calm sea as it slowly heaves its bulk in undulating waves. It becomes slightly out of focus, while the sky remains in focus. It has an impressionistic quality based on that feeling of focal distraction. The cirrus clouds then take you into focus. The blues are intense - using a space-blue tone in the foreground, then a softer tone before it turns more sapphire with a steal-toned layer before it merges into a hazy pale olive horizon.
